Version 10 is the latest release of Rumpus and supports all major file transfer protocols, including FTP, SFTP, FTPS, HTTP, HTTPS and WebDAV. Available as a monthly or annual subscription, Rumpus licenses include all product maintenance releases, feature upgrades, and technical support. Rumpus 10 includes a high-resolution Web display, supports modern security standards, elevates the SFTP service and sports a modernized and streamlined administration interface.
For full details about the new features and how to implement them, see our New Features Detail - MacOS or New Features Detail - Windows articles. |
With the release of Rumpus 10, Maxum is switching to a software subscription model that will provide all users with reliable support and access to all software updates. All Rumpus sites that originally licensed Rumpus 9 may upgrade to Rumpus 10.0 at no charge. All users who purchased Rumpus within the past year will also continue to receive free technical support for the duration of the 1 year period.
If your Rumpus serial number begins "RP-105-", "RR-105-", "RW-105-" or "RX-105-", then your license was purchased for Rumpus 9 and the upgrade to version 10.0 is free. Users with older licenses can receive the version 10 update, all future updates, and continuing technical support as part of the Rumpus subscription plan.
For information about upgrading from Rumpus Standard to Rumpus Pro, or if you have any other upgrade questions, send an e-mail to "info@maxum.com". Please include your product serial number so that we can look up your account information and answer your question promptly.

The Rumpus 10 upgrade can be applied on top of an existing Rumpus 9.0 system simply by copying the Rumpus 10 application to your local drive and launching. Rumpus 9.0 settings will be maintained during the upgrade process, with the following notes:
While the upgrade process is reliable and straightforward, please be sure to make a good backup prior to updating. At a minimum, make sure you have backed up the Rumpus configuration folder ("/usr/local/Rumpus/"). The update process will not alter your FTP Root or user content areas, but a full server backup is strongly recommended as well.
The Web File Manager interface has been updated significantly in version 10. Be sure to review the "Rumpus 10 New Features" article for a brief overview of the changes and the new display options. When testing the Web interface, be sure to use your browser "Empty Cache" or "Clear Browser Cache" option to avoid resource loading issues. (Under normal use, browser caches will generally reset automatically, so display problems will not occur or will be temporary and manual cache cleansing will not usually be necessary.)
If you have any problems with the Rumpus 10 Beta at all, the first step is to report the issue. In many cases, a simple settings adjustment will resolve the issue, while in others, we may be able to issue a quick software fix. If necessary, rolling back to the current release version of the software (Rumpus 9.0.12) is possible simply by launching the Rumpus 9.0 application.
Please report all Rumpus 10 Beta usage results. If you encounter problems or have any questions at all, please e-mail "support@maxum.com". Beta testing is the best time to resolve all issues in the software, and all problem reports will be given top priority during this time. Please also report successful installations, which help Maxum better evaluate the Beta program.
